Travel notes & review criteria: evaluation method and tool

Based on the outcomes of WP2-3, we will develop an online self-assessment tool for ECEC institutions working on promoting creative thinking, social and meta-cognitive skills, and the use of digital technologies to raise awareness about climate change among children aged 3 to 6. The tool will help ECEC institutions delve into the educational needs of children and develop appropriate learning and participation strategies based on the transversal key competences identified. The self-assessment tool will be designed by the consortium members and implemented in strict collaboration with the stakeholders (kindergartens and associated services). This way we plan to improve and test the tool on the basis of systematic validation of a wide range of educational contexts and experiences on knowledge building and digital transformation (KBDT) in ECEC, so as to facilitate its further adoption in other ECEC services in Europe.

We will map the following aspects of the ECEC services approach to KBDT:

  1. Needs analysis: initial and periodic evaluation of needs and potentials of 3-6 children concerning the learning and participation support provided for in ECEC services;
  2. Education policy: kinds of organisational policy (comprehensive, specific) and pedagogical strategies (dialogue, participatory and collaborative knowledge-building processes, provisions for special and vulnerable groups) implemented in ECEC services with regard to KBDT;
  3. Services support: targeted, partial or “non-specific” support provided by ECEC services to 3-6 children in relation to KBDT education; activities carried out to sustain ECEC services staff further training on KBDT education;
  4. Services network resources: level and type of educational, psychological, and social support provided through the development of ECEC services network approaches, as well as through fostering initiatives aimed to strengthen cooperation with children’ families and community connections concerning KBDT education.

Work Packages

WP1

WP1 Project Management’s goal is to manage and verify that the quality assurance and evaluation of the project is an horizontal and internal activity through the lifetime of the project. It will cover relevant aspects, such as quality and key features of deliverables, timeliness of deliverables, expected impact.

WP2 Building foundations and drawing the route: a conceptual and methodological framework goal is to create a common ground for the partnership by systematising available knowledge (e.g., EU and national reports, white papers, guidelines, scientific literature, etc.) and partners expertise on the topics addressed by the project (R- EACH report) and to build the tools and strategies to be applied in WP3, hence defining the direction for its development (conceptual and methodological guidelines)
